Okay…me with the finished Venus of Richard Simmons

Actually we took these pictures a few days ago,  so there are a few new pages on her…but she looks pretty much the same.  I closed her up a bit too early and there are some pages that did not make it into this piece…it was suggested that I count and weigh the missing pages and put an asterix beside her title that says *6 Richard Simmons’ Never Say Diet Books minus 23 pages…such and such grams of paper…so that you really see the OCD nature of Eating Disorder and Dieting…I do feel a bit like a cheater but as this is the first of the Diet Guru Small Venus’s…I need to be gentle with myself.  She is lovely….

About fatfeministactivistart

I'm a fat feminist activist artist...if you have any buttons I want to push them. I am currently working on an installation about the so called "Obesity Crisis." Right about now I would like to shove a big old apple in Michelle Obama's mouth so that she would keep it closed. No offense but she's not making anything better by getting parents and children all obsessed with FAT...Listen to your own bodies folks the answer is there. Oh yes...and send me your diet books...I need them all.

She is gorgious, really cute and pretty. I think this is an amazing idea. I am in no way an artist, and dont understand art, but this work makes sense to me!

    • Thanks Liz…alot of art thru history has tried to separate itself from society…if you couldn’t understand it…that was good…I think it’s important to make art that speaks to it’s audience…on all levels…whether it’s the visual itself or the messages, concepts and ideologies behind it. I really hope this project brings home the message that dieting is futile and we need to stop wasting our time and money on this drivel…we just need to accept ourselves the way we are..and strive for health at every size.
