Nail polish was/is forbidden…even when covered in a burka from head to toe women secretly went to beauty parlors to get their nails done. Also have a very naked look… so it was a way of being exposed but not…do you see what I mean? Also showing the soles of one’s feet is disrespectful in Muslim countries…that was why we saw so many images of people hitting statues and posters of Sadam Hussein with their shoes……symbolism
